Headway Norfolk and Waveney is a charity that supports adults with acquired brain injury, including those caused by a stroke, traumatic injury or infection. We work to enable people to come to terms with their new circumstances, to stimulate a meaningful long-term recovery and provide new opportunities to enhance quality of life and build independence. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Support Worker to help in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney areas. As a Key Support Worker you will be required to support clients to meet their personal care needs sensitively and appropriately whilst also assisting clients to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life, facilitating groups and activities including art, cooking and cognitive skills. Key Support Workers support clients in both a centre and outreach environment. Our centres are based in Great Yarmouth and Waveney. 

The position is for a 28-hour permanent contract where you will work over 4 days per week Tuesday-Friday.

You will be working within a committed, friendly, and supportive team of support workers and area manager. This is an incredibly rewarding job, where you make a genuine difference to people’s lives. 

Salary: £12.21 per hour (standard days are 7.5 hours) 

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Experience of working with people care or support needs and a good understanding of the challenges they and their families face 

  • Experience and understanding of goal setting 

  • Ability to liaise with other health care professionals, families and key support workers to provide a high-quality cohesive service 

  • The ability to work with support, within a developing and challenging environment 

  • Excellent communication and written skills 

  • Confidence in delivering groups and activities 

  • A desire and willingness to take on a challenge and extra training 

  • A clean driving licence and appropriate insurance with a means of transport to travel to various locations  

  • Good IT skills using Microsoft packages and with a willingness to learn other software and client databases
