Late last year, staff at Headway Norfolk and Waveney, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by brain injury, participated in a transformative team development session led by Mindflick through their Pay It Forward initiative. This opportunity, made possible by Mindflick’s charitable scheme, provided valuable insights into teamwork, communication, and connection, equipping staff with new skills to enhance the support they provide to individuals living with acquired brain injury (ABI).

Mindflick is a performance psychology company that helps individuals and teams adapt, perform, and thrive by combining mindset profiling with performance psychology techniques. Their approach enhances collaboration, communication, and resilience, enabling teams to better understand themselves and each other.

The session gave Headway Norfolk and Waveney staff a fresh perspective on their strengths, working styles, and ways to bring out the best in each other. By strengthening internal connections, the team can apply these skills in their work with clients, fostering stronger relationships and improving outcomes for those affected by brain injuries.

"At Mindflick, we believe that understanding yourself and those around you is key to unlocking great teamwork and performance," said Helena Docherty, Client Relationships Manager at Mindflick. "We were delighted to offer this session to Headway Norfolk and Waveney, helping their team build deeper connections and create an even stronger foundation for the incredible work they do."

"The session with Mindflick was a real eye-opener," said Claire Boothy-Barnbrook, CEO at Headway Norfolk and Waveney. "It made us reflect on how we interact as a team and how we can strengthen those connections- not just to support each other but to improve the support we provide to the people who rely on us."

Mindflick’s support continues beyond this session. The organisation is working with Headway Norfolk and Waveney through additional training opportunities, including their Champion Training Programme, helping staff embed these insights and further develop their skills.

"Mindflick’s continued support means the team can keep growing and improving," added Boothy-Barnbrook. "This isn’t just about one session- it’s about long-term change. Strengthening our connections enables us to provide even better support for those living with brain injuries, ensuring they feel understood, valued, and empowered."

Without the Pay It Forward initiative, a session like this would not have been possible for Headway Norfolk and Waveney. This partnership has allowed the organisation to access expert-led training that will have a lasting impact, not only on the team but also on the individuals they support every day.

With ABI Awareness Week coming up in May, Headway Norfolk and Waveney remains committed to raising awareness and improving support for those living with brain injuries. Thanks to Mindflick, the team is better equipped to foster meaningful connections, both within the organisation and with clients, leading to stronger relationships and better outcomes.
