Headway Norfolk and Waveney, a local, independent charity dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by brain injury, is delighted to announce it has received a generous donation from Norwich Consolidated Charities. The grant will support four free support groups for peers and careers living with brain injury in the City of Norwich. These groups will unite people to access support, build understanding, improve personal relationships, and share experiences with others facing similar challenges, in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
Michael Kitching, CEO at Headway Norfolk and Waveney, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for this support: ‘We were all over the moon to receive this grant from the Norwich Consolidated Charities, which will make a tangible difference the lives of local people living with brain injury. We know that brain injury has a life-changing impact on the sufferer, as well as their family and friends. However, the invisible nature of brain injury often leads to social stigmatisation, poor mental health and relationship break downs. Our free support groups are a vital means through which peers and carers living with brain injury can meet up with others in the local community who have also been impacted brain injury, to better understand and manage their symptoms, and forge meaningful connections, reducing isolation and improving wellbeing.’
