Why is a will important?
Making a Will allows you to specify who gets your money, property, investments and possessions after you pass away. It ensures your assets go to the people and causes you care about. Without a Will, this decision is determined by the laws of intestacy, which might not align with your exact wishes. Making a Will also eases the stress for your loved ones during a difficult time as you have made all the important decisions for them.
Legacy Resources
Your legacy matters, and our resources are designed to assist you in making a lasting difference
Step 1 - Start thinking about your will.
Prepare to write your Will by thinking about what you’ll be leaving and who you’d like to include in your Will. To help you prepare, you can use our Will planner available on our website. You’ll find this at www.headway-nw.org.uk/will-planner
Will PlannerStep 2 - Find a solicitor.
Find a solicitor and book an appointment to write your Will. You may already have a solicitor you’d like to use, but if not, you can find one on The Law Society website. You can also get in touch with our partner Heritage Wills, or use our free Will writing service with our trusted partners "Make a will online".
Step 3- Keep your will safe.
Keep your Will safe and tell your executors* where it is. Let your family know if you’ve included us in your Will and if you’re happy to tell us, we’d love to know too. *Your executors are the people you choose to make sure the wishes detailed in your Will are carried out.
